Discover the Power of Shockwave Therapy
Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy (ESWT) is a cutting-edge, non-invasive treatment that delivers high-frequency acoustic shockwaves to injured tendons and soft tissues. These shockwaves stimulate the body’s natural healing response by increasing blood flow, reducing inflammation, and promoting tissue repair, helping tendons and soft tissues heal more efficiently and making ESWT particularly effective for sports injuries and chronic tendon pain.
By creating a controlled stimulus in the affected area, shockwave therapy helps break down scar tissue or calcifications, reduce pain sensitivity, and support tissue regeneration. This can improve mobility, reduce pain, and support a faster return to activity without surgery or downtime. It is commonly used for conditions such as Achilles tendinopathy, plantar fasciitis, tennis elbow, patellar tendon pain, and chronic muscle strains when other treatments have not been effective.
Whether your discomfort stems from training, physically demanding work, or daily activities, shockwave therapy offers an evidence-based pathway to recovery.
At Jannali Healthcare Centre in NSW, we provide shockwave therapy for individuals across the Sutherland Shire and wider New South Wales, supporting recovery from sports injuries, work-related strain, and everyday movement limitations.

What Can Shockwave Therapy Help With?
Shockwave therapy is a versatile treatment for a range of chronic tendon conditions.
Common conditions treated by radial shockwave therapy:
-
Shoulder Tendinopathies: Including calcific tendinitis and rotator cuff pain.
-
Tennis Elbow (Lateral Epicondylitis): Discomfort on the outer elbow.
-
Achilles Tendinopathy: Pain at the back of the heel.
-
Knee Tendinopathy (Patellar Tendon): Pain just below the kneecap.
-
Hip Tendinopathy or Bursitis: Painful conditions of the hip.
-
Hamstring Tendinopathy: Persistent discomfort in the upper thigh or lower buttock.
-
Plantar Fasciitis: Heel pain that can make walking difficult.

Shockwave therapy could be the solution for chronic pain that hasn’t responded to other treatments!
What To Expect During Treatment?
Shockwave therapy sessions are straightforward and efficient!
Sessions last 5-10 minutes each. Typically, you’ll need 2-5 sessions, spaced one week apart. The process involves placing a special probe over the injured area to deliver those powerful shock waves, stimulating repair and reducing pain.

Are There Any Side-Effects?
The good news? Side effects are minimal!
During treatment, it’s normal to experience some discomfort—this is often a sign the therapy is targeting the right area. We’ll always work within your personal threshold and check in with you regularly to ensure the intensity is manageable.
After your session, most people feel little to no lingering discomfort, similar to the sensation of having had a deep massage. In fact, it’s quite common to notice reduced pain in the treated area.
You can return to most daily activities immediately, but we do recommend avoiding strenuous exercise for 48 hours post-treatment to allow your body to heal optimally.
