Cathrine Myrland

Chiropractor

Cathrine is the new owner of Jannali Healthcare Centre, and lives in Jannali with her young family. She holds a Master of Chiropractic from Macquarie University and has over a decade of clinical experience.

Her career has been shaped by working at multidisciplinary clinics with strong emphasis on allied health communication. This has influenced her clinical reasoning and multimodal style of care.

Cathrine enjoys treating people of ages, but has developed a particular interest for paediatric chiropractic. She is passionate about musculoskeletal development and optimising the brain-body connection by assessing the nervous system, motor skills, coordination, primitive reflexes and childhood development.

She is currently enrolled in a Masters in Paediatric Musculoskeletal Health at AECC University to further enhance her evidence-informed care for infants and children.

Chiropractors with paediatric training can manage conditions such as infantile torticollis (wry neck), plagiocephaly (flat head syndrome), asymmetries, delayed milestones, tummy time support, jaw and tongue related problems with breastfeeding, amongst others conditions. She strongly believes that lifelong prevention of musculoskeletal problems starts in childhood.

Cathrine has additionally completed post graduate training includes areas such as pregnancy and postnatal care, paediatric rehabilitation, shoulder treatment, dizziness, headaches, migraines, temporomandibular (jaw) dysfunction and dry needling.

Chiropractic techniques used includes Activator, Diversified, Flexion-Distraction, Gonstead, Sacro-Occipital Technique, Thompson/Drop, and Webster. She also has soft tissue training in Graston, Guasha, fascial stretching, kinesiotaping, DNS Rehabilitation and Shockwave Therapy.

She will mix her techniques based on patient age and preferences, and will normally not use one particular technique.

Cathrine is available weekdays from 8am to 7pm, and every second Saturday from 8am to 12pm.

Alison lives in the Sutherland Shire with her husband and 2 young children, and enjoys being able to contribute to building the health of those within the local community.

Alison graduated from Macquarie University in 2004 with a Bachelor of Chiropractic Science and a Masters of Chiropractic. For almost 4 years she lived and practiced Chiropractic in the United Kingdom and returned to Sydney in 2009 to begin servicing families in the Sutherland Shire.

Alison has undertaken further studies to become proficient in various low-force techniques including Sacro-Occipital Technique, Thompson Technique, Webster Technique and Activator Technique which she uses in combination with the more traditionally known manual Chiropractic Techniques in her treatment approach. She also incorporates muscular release techniques including musculoskeletal dry needling into her treatment plans.

Alison has a keen interest in Pregnancy, Paediatrics and general Family Wellness Care and has a passion for helping all patients achieve an optimal level of health by way of a healthy spine and fully functioning nervous system. She believes in an integrated approach to care which focuses on active rehabilitation and self management strategies to maintain treatment benefits.
